Started in 2019, Nickalus has spent the past several years teaching students of all ages and levels the different aspects of music including: piano, theory, composition, and production. With 5 years of experience, Nickalus has crafted a unique and inclusive curriculum to fuel their student's curiosity and love for music.
Nickalus uses a mixture of set curriculum that is tailored or supplemented for each students interests and abilities. This is great for ensuring strong fundamentals while maintaining engagement and appreciation. Music theory is used to reinforce technical skills on the piano while compositional activities can be used to reinforce theory, which leads to further development of piano technique and the option for students to write and play their own songs.
It's all a circle.
Curriculum
Students will learn a variety of music from all different genres due to the different skills each genre requires. Nickalus has found this to be an exciting approach to diversify skills for their students. Skills that will be learned through lessons include: sight-reading, ear training, arranging, composition, dictation, and accompanying. Students will also learn a variety of notations style including: standard western notation, lead sheets, chord charts, and tablature.
